Question:
I live in a two story house and this morning I woke up to a sink-upstairs master bath-with water filled to the rim. The faucets weren’t on so the water must have came up through the plug/drain. How do I go about fixing this? What is causing water to come up through drain? Thanks.
Answer:
Is there a branch drain under the sink? Look for a rubber hose attached to the drain. Some houses have a roof condensation line from the air conditioner tapped into an upstairs sink. This debris will sometimes plug the drain and cause a blockage which would have to be snaked. If your main sewer were blocked, your downstairs toilets, downstairs bathtub and shower would overflow before the water ever filled the pipe going upstairs.
