Question:

After the toilet is flushed and the tank fills, the filled bowl siphons off
until only about an inch of water remains in the bowl. The tank doesn’t
appear to be leaking into the bowl. What could be the problem?

Answer:

You may have a fracture in the internal toilet trap or it could be a problem with a partially blocked vent which is siphoning water from the bowl.
