Question:
I have a house in Spain that is fed from a massive deposit, but my upper level is more or less level with the deposit. I have a standard water (on demand gas boiler) and it lifts a plunger to turn the flames on. I can get the boiler to kick in if I put on 2 hot taps, but 1 on its own doesn’t give enough demand…my boiler is quite large, 11 liters, so was wondering if I installed a 4 liter, would this work better, we only ever need 1 shower at a time, and never run taps if someone is in the shower, so I am guessing this would work? I have looked at buying a pressure pump, but all the plumbers reckon I need a 500 liter tank by the pump. I cannot understand this as I have a massive tank for the village supplying the house anyway, and the pressure downstairs is ok. Help! Pump? Pump and tank? Smaller boiler?
Answer:
If you installed a 4 to 6 liter tank, that should give you enough hot water without having to install a pump. I would probably also have my gas flow/volume checked to make sure you have enough gas to handle the boiler.
