Question:

I just bought a old farm house that has a above ground water pump. I was told it is called a dual jet pump and it sits next to a small pressure tank. The issue I am having with this set up is it does not hold good pressure. The water will have good pressure in the shower for about 1 to 2 min then die down to half or less of the pressure I started with. I only have 1 bathroom a kitchen and a washer hook-up. What do I do to get better constant water pressure? My water is also dirty water it leaves rust stains in the shower and toilet. Is dirty water part of the reason I have low pressure?

Answer:

The pressure tank may have a bad diaphragm which is not holding the pressure. Have a local plumber check the pressure on the tank. If the tank manufacturer has a phone number on the tank, you might call them for troubleshooting info.
