Question:

My travertine tiles in our downstairs bathroom are getting warm, but we do not have heated floors. The bathroom is right next to our water heater in our garage. We searched for any water leaks from our heater, and do not see any.

We believe we have a broken hot water pipe. Plus, our dishwasher is no longer dispersing water and cleaning the dishes. Is this a slab pipe leak, and what are we to do to fix the problem?

Answer:

Make sure no one in the house is running any water…Then go outside to your water meter and check the little red arrow…if it is moving, then you definitely have a leak. You should have a leak detector pinpoint the leak, jackhammer the slab, repair the leak, backfill and patch the cement. This type of repair may range from $500.00 to 1500.00 depending on your plumbing contractor.
