Question:

I have had my boiler serviced a few days ago and the technician said the case seals needed to be replaced which I could understand. The problem comes in where the case can only be secured by 3 out of 4 bolts as there are pipes in the way of the fourth nut. He has given me warning notice that the boiler is at risk and the only way to make it safe is to replace the boiler. The boiler has been here since I moved in over a year ago and what was a standard service is now looking to become a costly affair is there anyway around this as the boiler is in working order and I feel it should only be replaced if it is broken.

Answer:

Because of the tremendous pressure in a boiler you definitely need to make sure all the bolts are used to hold the cover in place. Can’t they remove the pipe in the way and replace it when the service is complete?
