Plumbing Question 109
Question:
Sometimes when I have water running, black water comes thru the faucets; it’s a short (3 second) gush of black stuff. It’s only obvious if you happen to see it.
It has come out of every faucet of the house at one time or another but it’s so random I don’t know what’s causing it. What could it be?
Answer:
You may have resin from a “Culligan” or other type water purifier leaking into your waterlines. Put a wash cloth in the sink and turn on the water to try and trap some of the black stuff. Does it look like sand or very tiny BBs. If it does it is resin and you need to flush the waterlines out after replacing the tank.
